Amber Heard has blamed Johnny Depp’s teacup Yorkie named Boo for the infamous incident where fecal matter was left in the couple’s bed.
During courtroom testimony in the couple’s multimillion-dollar libel trial on Monday, Ms Heard fired back at the accusation that she had called the incident “a prank gone wrong”.
Ms Heard told the court she wouldn’t find it funny and was ‘in no mood for pranks’ at the time after she was allegedly ‘attacked’ by Mr Depp the day before.
“Absolutely not,” she said of the suggestion that she staged the incident as a prank. “First of all, I don’t think it’s funny. I don’t know what a grown woman does.
“I wasn’t in the mood to make jokes either. My life was falling apart…I had just been assaulted on my 30th birthday by my abusive husband who I was desperately in love with,” she said.
Ms Heard told the court the dog ate Mr Depp’s marijuana as a puppy and had suffered from bowel control issues ever since.
Boo often shared the couple’s bed with them and they often left the dog in the bed as if they put him on the floor he would immediately go to the bathroom, she said.
That day, Ms Heard said she and her friend were packing their bags to go to the Coachella Music Festival to celebrate her 30th birthday.
She said they left Boo in the bed as they got ready, suggesting the dog was responsible.
Mr Depp previously testified that human faeces was left in the bed he shared with Ms Heard days after the couple had a falling out in 2016.
He claimed he had wanted to visit their Los Angeles penthouse to pick up some stuff while he was away, but learned that “it was not the right time to go” after he was shown a picture of ” our bed and on my side”. of the bed was human faecal matter”.
Mr Depp’s security guard and driver, Starling Jenkins, testified that Ms Heard told him the excrement was a ‘practical joke gone horribly wrong’.
He said he had a conversation with the actress where she allegedly made the shocking admission as he drove her to Coachella.
“We had a conversation about the surprise she left in the boss’s bed, before she left the apartment,” Mr Jenkins said.
Ms Heard told the court on Monday that Mr Starling drove her home with his friends from Coachella but she ‘didn’t have a conversation with him’, was never alone with him and sat in the back of the vehicle with a friend. .
Ms Heard returned to the stand for a third day of testimony as the trial resumed after a week-long hiatus on Monday.
Mr Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post where she describes herself as a “public figure representing domestic violence”.
the Pirates of the Caribbean The actor is not named in the article, which is titled “I spoke out against sexual violence – and faced the wrath of our culture. This must change”.
However, Mr Depp claims this falsely implies he is a domestic abuser – which he strongly denies – and has left him struggling to land roles in Hollywood. He’s suing for $50 million.
Ms Heard is fighting back for $100million, accusing Mr Depp of orchestrating a ‘smear campaign’ against her and describing her lawsuit as a continuation of ‘abuse and harassment’.
The trial began on April 11 in Fairfax, Va., with explosive testimony in the courtroom.
