JJ Watt’s ‘mitochondria’ tweet sends Bills and Browns fans into free agency theory frenzy

JJ Watt knows cells.

Watt is a free agent, having requested and received his release from the Texans in February. His free agency has NFL fans clinging to his every word, hoping the defensive side will sign with their team.

Watt, one of the most active NFL players on social media sites, sent out a single tweet on Tuesday, which sent these same NFL fans in Defcon 1:

“Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell,” the tweet read.

AFTER: Did the 2015 episode of “New Girl” predict JJ Watt’s future?

Before we move on, it’s important to note that mitochondria are, in fact, the powerhouse of the cell. It is composed of bound membranes organelles that provide chemical energy to fuel the cell’s biochemical reactions. Watt is correct here.

What does this have to do with the NFL? Well, “organelle” and “NFL” rhyme, but that’s about it.

Still, that hasn’t stopped starving football fans from multiple teams – including the Chargers, Bills, Browns and Lions – from turning to the tweet machine to try and draw conclusions from the educational tweet sent by. Watt.

The SN theory: A “Watt” is a unit used to measure electricity, which is used to power things, similar to mitochondria. The logo of the chargers is a lightning bolt made of electricity. Therefore, JJ Watt is heading to the chargers.

Is this how it works?
