Fox News has spent weeks promoting a new form of scare propaganda, just in time for Halloween.
“Dangerous immigrants are stuffing our kids’ bags with fentanyl,” said Jimmy Kimmel, summing up the right-wing network’s talking heads.
In September, some Fox News personalities were in such a panic that they advised against allowing trick-or-treating this Halloween, essentially trying to cancel the beloved holiday.
Experts dismissed panic alerts issued by the network.
“The idea that because [the pills] are colored means that [cartels] must try to force fentanyl or manipulate children or their Halloween candy is grossly ridiculous,” Mariah Francis of the National Harm Reduction Coalition told Rolling Stone.
Experts were right to be skeptical, as Kimmel noted during Tuesday night’s monologue.
“After weeks of uninterrupted coverage on Fox News accusing Joe Biden of stuffing our pumpkins with drugs, it appears there is no fentanyl Skittles being consumed at all,” he said. “And let me say, thank God for the heroes of Fox for covering up this threat.”
