The 20 Hours of Thursday September 7 takes you to Japan, on the island of Kyushu, to sail through the Takachiho Gorge. It would be, according to legend, the first place on Earth visited by a god.
In the land of the rising sun, in the mountains of the island of Kyushu, hides a national treasure: the throats of Takachiho. The water there is translucent and its waterfalls have shaped the rocks for thousands of years. You can get there by little train. It takes tourists for walks and offers stunning views from above. But it is also possible to rent boats to sail in complete serenity in the calm waters. “It’s great to be able to navigate these gorges. By taking the boat, it allows us to approach the waterfall and nature”rejoices a visitor.
One million visitors each year
The treasure is natural but also religious, made up of myths and legends. In Shintoism, it would even be the first place on Earth to have received a visit from a god. Between religion and national history, the place therefore occupies a central place in the heart of Japan. In the country, the emperor is still considered the heir of the gods. The gorges of Takachiho attract one million visitors each year.
