Jamie Lee Curtis has responded to growing calls for her to play Dr. Kureha on Netflix. One pieceand manga fans around the world will be happy to know that she is all set to take part in the series.
Curtis took to Instagram on Friday to let fans know that she’s totally open to playing the character and the best news is that the showrunner seems to want it to happen.
“ONCE AMTPT’s GREED STRIKE is settled with a FAIR CONTRACT, I will push with growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha in @onepiecenetflix,” Curtis captioned his post.
Series co-showrunner Matt Owens later commented on the post, writing, “Mommy dear, that’s why we sent you this figurine! No need to lobby. Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let’s talk!
Based on the manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, One piece focuses on a boy named Monkey D. Luffy and his fellow Straw Hat Pirates as they go on their quest for the titular treasure.
Curtis later released a clip with footage of herself in a media interview to promote 2022. End of Halloweenwhere she mentioned that her daughter Ruby Guest encouraged her to play Dr. Kureha, a gray-haired doctor from Drum Island.
One piece premiered on Netflix last month and was renewed for season 2 just two weeks later. Speaking about the renewal, Oda seemed to allude to the casting process for Dr. Kureha: “From now on, it seems to me that the Straw Hats will need a great doctor… We’ll see!”
