Ally McCoist and Jim White were all Rangers fans after watching Ryan Kent get his chance from close range in extra time in the Europa League final.
The Scottish giants faced off against Eintracht Frankfurt in an entertaining 120 minutes of action in Sevilla but ultimately came up short as they were beaten on penalties as former Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey missed the crucial kick.
While Frankfurt had the better of a chance in the game, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side had the best chance of the final in the closing stages of extra time when Kent forced a glorious save from Kevin Trapp in Frankfurt’s goal – a stoppage which talkSPORT commentator Jim Proudfoot describes as “saving his life”.
Discussing the moment, White says he believed it was time for Rangers to wrap up their first European trophy in 50 years, but sadly it wasn’t.
Speaking to talkSPORT, White said: “The chance to extend Ryan Kent’s time was the moment.
“That was when we thought Rangers were going to win, and they weren’t.
“They went so far tonight, but not far enough.
“It’s agony but I have to say the Rangers fans to our left who stayed while Eintracht got their trophy, stood in front of a man and cheered them on and it was great to see .”

White added: “It wasn’t. It was agony at the end, I have to admit.
“Alex Crook and I were very close to the pitch amongst some Eintracht fans and amongst some Rangers fans and that moment when the penalty was saved Rangers fans fell to their knees and Eintracht Frankfurt fans jumped and celebrated.
“They knew then that it was an advantage for them, a great moment.”
We didn’t have Gers legend Ally McCoist at our disposal tonight, but his reaction to the occasion says it all.
As mentioned, Ramsey’s failure proved to be the defining moment of the final, with Trapp hindering the kick which the Welshman failed to quite catch.
On Ramsey, White said: “He will be in a world of his own, total dejection for him.
“There was so much responsibility at that time, there was so much responsibility, and he failed. That’s the fact of the matter.
“He didn’t come on site and didn’t do what Rangers expected of him and I’m afraid that’s when it tipped in favor of Eintracht Frankfurt.
“It’s a cruel, cruel process of events, we know that, and Rangers are going home without that trophy.”
Everyone associated with Rangers is hoping it won’t be another 50 years for another opportunity like this.
