Israeli police enter Jerusalem holy site and arrest 2 people

JERUSALEM — Israeli police entered the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque, a sensitive holy site in Jerusalem, two days after clashes with Palestinians.

Police evacuated Palestinians from the sprawling plaza outside the mosque itself early Sunday, while dozens of Palestinians remained inside the building.

Police arrested at least two Palestinians. They appeared to have cleared the square to allow a group of about 30 Jewish visitors to enter. The site is the third holiest in Islam and the holiest to Jews, who call it the Temple Mount.
