BLOUNT COUNTY, Alabama (WIAT) – The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a situation involving hundreds of missing FedEx packages.
According to BCSO, the deputies located “300 to 400 boxes of various sizes” which appear to have “been thrown from a ravine”.
At 5 p.m., FedEx officials dispatched another vehicle to collect the matching packages from the scene. They were unable to get all of the packages on Wednesday night and will send another truck on Thursday to complete. FedEx will analyze the packages to see where they came from and where they are supposed to go.
FedEx issued a statement to CBS 42:
The safety of our customers ‘shipments is a top priority and we are committed to handling our customers’ packages with the utmost care. We are taking steps to collect and transport the affected packages as quickly as possible. In addition to cooperating with law enforcement, we are investigating this situation and taking appropriate action. Customers who have questions about their shipments can track their packages by visiting http://fedex.com.
Sheriff Mark Moon said a deputy will guard the packages overnight.
