The BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, scheduled to be held in March 2021, was postponed later in the year due to COVID-19 concerns, tennis governing body, Association of Tennis said on Tuesday. Professionals (ATP).

The 2020 edition of the event, also known as the ‘fifth major’ after the four Grand Slam tournaments, has been canceled entirely in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.

“Due to the impact of COVID-19, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells will not be held on its usual dates in March,” ATP said in a statement.

“Other dates are being evaluated for the tournament to take place later in the year.”
