In Hungary, recent measures to curb what the government calls “LGBTQ propaganda” have drawn criticism from the EU. Behind these decisions, the nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is preparing to face next year a tougher battle than usual for his re-election. Long described as “illiberal”, Viktor Orban is now accused of discrimination by many European leaders who denounce the latest restrictions on LGBTQ publications and sex education.
