In Brest, this man wanted to intervene against the thugs rue de Siam – Brest

The blood of this 43-year-old man has only made one turn. As his partner says, “I didn’t even have time to hold him back”, and from a nearby building, he came out like a bomb from his apartment. “I didn’t want to fight, I just wanted to push them back,” he explained the day after the scuffle. “It was probably a little reckless on my part, but I got angry and saw red.” So he went down all alone in the middle of the rue de Siam and the last troop of thugs, who had just attacked the window of Crédit Agricole. “It was at the moment of the noise caused by the breaking of the storefront that I exploded,” he admits, “I can’t stand people attacking things for free.”

“I think I was yelling ‘you guys are crazy for breaking people’s jobs'”

It was in front of the real estate agency Luxior, which seemed to be the group’s next destination, that he intervened. It was there that he tried to push back with his hands those who threatened to attack the window. “I think I was yelling, ‘You guys are crazy for breaking people’s jobs’, trying to get in their way,” he says. “I didn’t want to hit them.”

Two distinct groups

He remembers that in the melee, two groups opposed to him formed. “The older ones who were still very young told me to leave, to go home or that otherwise it was going to be bad for me. It was the youngest, barely older teenagers, who put me on the ground and hit me. The others were trying to hold them back,” he continues. In the brawl, this man was not unduly injured. A few pains here and there and on the forearm, the varnish of the skin has given way. “In the motorcycle world, we call it a pizza,” he smiles. He remembers that one of the most peaceful men finally accompanied him to the foot of his building, advising him not to come down again.

Demonstrate yes, degrade no

“It was a real outburst of anger, a bad reflex and useless risk taking” he returns coldly to this very hot moment, “but, and it is perhaps silly to say, I had the feeling that they were attacking my home, my close environment”. Because the one who says “really respect the right to demonstrate” does not support the degradations. “We are talking about work today, but these gestures can lead to technical unemployment and put people who have not asked for anything even more in the shit”. Ditto for the tags that have flourished these days in the streets of the center, judged by him as disrespectful “for those who clean and those who pay for the cleaning”.
