I’m a mum and my super quick and cheap idea will add a little more magic to Christmas Day – it’s so easy to make

There’s no denying that Christmas is the most magical time of the year.

But according to one mum, there is a very easy way to add an extra pinch of magic on the morning of December 25th.

Clare Hoops has revealed the clever way she keeps her children from peeking into her living room on Christmas Eve1 credit

Clare Hoops took to TikTok and posted a video in which she explains how she conceals her living room entrance using wrapping paper, before completing the look with a bow.

When her children run downstairs to see if Santa Claus has passed, they must then break through the wrapping paper to access their presents.

Alongside the video, she wrote, “Save it for Christmas Eve, wrapping the door as a Christmas present is a super cheap way to add a little extra Christmas Day magic and so easy to do.

“I just use Cellotape and it’s recyclable paper.”

The post has since gone viral, racking up 497,000 views and hundreds of comments – with many admitting they’ll give the idea a chance later that evening.

“Ohh I will!! I don’t have a door in the living room,” one wrote.

A second wrote: “We’ve been doing this for years but everyone’s grown up now but I’m still doing it haha!”

A third praised: “Love it!”

Meanwhile, a fourth added: ‘I’m doing this so my siblings don’t come down the stairs early because you’ll see if they’ve come down because the wrapping paper will be torn.’

Another commented: “I’m doing this – it’s awesome!”

Elsewhere, some parents admitted they were already using the hack to stop their little ones from peeking.

“I’ve been doing this for 16 years because I have a glass paneled door, I don’t want the kids peeking around,” one noted.

Another commented: ‘We do this so they don’t peek!’
