Poppy O’Toole, a Michelin-trained chef turned ‘Potato Queen’ took to TikTok to tell us how we should cook our potatoes if we are to get the perfect crispy skin.

Poppy uploaded her video to the TikTok “poppycooks” account with the caption “A Chef’s Secrets to a Perfect Baked Potato”.

She said: “Everyone wants to know how I have such crispy skin and I wish there was something chef, but it really isn’t.

“All you have to do is push in a fork, this will release the moisturizer which gives you nice crispy skin.”

“Then you’re going to coat it with vegetable oil, that’s also going to help get that crunch in there.

“Add a load of flaky salt, you want to push the boat up for a baked potato.

“Then I put it in a cold oven and heat it up to 200 degrees Celsius and leave it there for about two and a half hours, so it’s crispy and delicious.”

So there you have it… the secrets of the perfect jacket potato.

In a cold oven (who knew) and leave it for two and a half hours (which seems like a lifetime to be honest).
