The Red Devils hero has opened up about his plan to take advantage of the young defender – in what turned out to be the crucial moment of the game
Manchester United Star Marcus Rashford has revealed his plan to exploit Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri which resulted in a decisive goal for the victory.
Rashford struck the vital blow in the 93rd minute as the Red Devils sank Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford to move up second in the Premier League table as the new year approaches.
The 23-year-old ran behind the tiring Ait-Nouri to receive the pass from Bruno Fernandes, before cutting inside and finding the back of the net after a nasty deflection from Romain Saiss.
Ait-Nouri was injured shortly before Fernandes passed the assist to Rashford with the 19-year-old rising and scrambling to try and get back into position.
Rashford said he noticed the young winger struggling with his physical form and aimed to take advantage of it by constantly running behind the French defender.
“It’s the decisive goal,” Rashford told reporters after the game. “Probably not the prettiest, but we’ll take what we can get and take the three points and move on.
“It was a tough day, but we expected a tough game, but we managed to cross the line.
“The full-back was cramping a few minutes before so I just had it in my head I wanted to attack him and make him slice and turn and see if I could do something and luckily in the end we have had a deviation.
“It means a lot. We were a little disappointed that we didn’t play as well as we wanted or could have, but it’s three points and no matter how disjointed it is, we’ll take it.
“For us, we can’t look too far. We’re a team that still works a lot on ourselves. We have to play one game at a time, but if we can keep finding ways to win like that, we’ll see. where we are at the end of the season. “
