‘I don’t want Diego Simeone in the Premier League,’ says Gabby Agbonlahor as Jason Cundy claims he wants Atletico Madrid boss at Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted he doesn’t want to see Diego Simeone anywhere near the Premier League after his Atletico Madrid side’s latest dirty antics.

The Spanish side have been branded a ‘disgrace’ after another heated clash with Manchester City in the Champions League, which turned into a brawl in the tunnel after being kicked out of Europe.

Simeone has been accused of creating a ‘toxic’ culture at Atletico Madrid

City held on to claim a 0-0 draw at Madrid as they progressed to the semi-finals thanks to their 1-0 first leg win at the Etihad, and it was a deserved result given that that they had to endure during the two legs.

The Atleti players appeared determined to battle the stars of City, with Jack Grealish targeted by the players throughout both games, while Phil Foden was also sent off on the pitch on Wednesday night.

Felipe was sent off for a second yellow after sending off Foden, while Stefan Savic tried to pull the England man from the field, then pulled Grealish’s hair and also headed Raheem Sterling into the scrum which followed.

Felipe’s dismissal sparked a furious reaction from Simeone, who was accused of creating a “toxic” culture at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Simeone has been linked with moves to the Premier League in the past but talkSPORT host Adrian Durham said on Wednesday night that his Atletico side’s behavior over recent seasons was the reason he didn’t. was not in charge of a big club.

And former Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor hopes the Argentine bad boy never makes it to the English top flight, saying it’s better off without him and his combative style.

Felipe did not leave quietly

“For me, Simeone, I don’t want him in the Premier League,” he told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“His antics, he was basically giving his team license to go out and kick players. Savic, I think he could have had three red cards!

Agbonlahor went on to criticize ‘bully’ Savic, saying Simeone was to blame for his team’s dark arts and that it was not something that should be introduced into the English top flight.

He also praised the conduct of the Man City players, who kept their composure, when Agbonlahor admitted he would have celebrated emphatically in front of full-time Simeone to rub shoulders with the result.

“He’s your typical bully, Savic,” the talkSPORT pundit added. “He went after Foden, one of the smaller players on the pitch, he had something against Grealish, I don’t know what it was, but he’s a typical bully.

“I don’t think he would do that if Duncan Ferguson, Emile Heskey, John Carew, Vincent Kompany, if players like that were on the pitch, I don’t think Savic would. He’s a bully and I think that it’s a shame.

And the final whistle didn’t end the battle

“All the antics of all their players was a disgrace. We saw the video of the tunnel and it was also embarrassing.

“Thanks to Man City. To get out of this game without suspension, credit to the manager who told them not to react and credit to the players.

“Sterling was headbutted, he didn’t react. Grealish had his hair pulled by bully Savic, he didn’t react. Foden was kicked and kicked all over the place and none of those players rose to the occasion.

“I was watching the game and fuming, and not just because I’m friends with Jack.

“Those players were better than I would have been – I would have celebrated in front of Simeone and in front of their players.

“I don’t understand because Atletico Madrid were playing good football. They were the best team of the night and these antics cost them time, cost them momentum in the game, I just didn’t understood.

Savic also gave Sterling a whim as Man City players did well not to follow Atleti’s liquidation tactics

“They need a goal and they could have scored in the last 15 minutes thanks to the chances they had, they should have scored. They have idiots like Savic who just want to kick people like he’s playing in the 90’s.”

However, despite widespread condemnation, one man loved watching Atletico’s antics on Wednesday night.

Ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy loved every second of the heated encounter and saw nothing wrong with the Spanish side’s ‘awful’ style.

In fact, he said Simeone would be welcome at Chelsea, should Thomas Tuchel leave his post at Stamford Bridge soon.

“If Simeone has done well at Chelsea, he’s perfect,” said the Sports Bar host. “He is absolutely perfect for us.

Cundy wouldn’t mind bad boy Simeone at Chelsea

“Honestly, if Tuchel leaves for some reason in the next two or three years and Simene rocks… ohhh.

“I would love to see Simeone in the Premier League, I would love to see him. We would be the most hated club in the world again!

“Who cares? We’ve been hated for 15 or 20 years!
