Hurricane Lee, currently battering the Atlantic Ocean, is expected to quickly intensify into an extremely dangerous major hurricane.

Lee, which upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane on Wednesday, could become a major Category 3 hurricane by Friday and a high-end Category 4 hurricane with winds of up to 250 km/h by Friday. SATURDAY.

The storm is currently heading west, located east of the Leeward Islands.

Lee is expected to move north of the Caribbean islands over the weekend, sparing the islands any direct impact other than choppy waves and rip currents.

Next week, spaghetti models show the storm turning north before reaching the Turks and Caicos Islands. Bermuda could be in Lee’s way.

Long-range patterns may change over the next week, but currently show Lee moving parallel to the east coast of the United States. If Lee stays on this trajectory, the East Coast will see no direct impacts, but will be hit by major surf and rip currents by the end of next week.
