Donald Trump allegedly tried to have late-night comics poking fun at him investigated by the Justice Department during his presidency, and “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert was offended – but not in the way which you might think.
The Daily Beast reported that Trump asked advisers what federal agencies, including the Justice Department, “could do to probe or mitigate” SNL, “Jimmy Kimmel and other late-comedy mischief-makers. evening”.
Colbert couldn’t help but notice that he was not mentioned by name. And he wasn’t happy with that.
“It’s dangerous, disturbing, anti-American,” Colbert said. “And why am I lumped together with ‘other comedy mischief makers’?!?”
“If the DOJ thugs break down the doors to round up the late-night snickers to train us in Mar-a-Gulago to be murdered, I should get more than ‘… and the rest.’ I don’t appreciate the treatment Mary Ann and the teacher here. My name is Stephen Colbert, my name should be in the stadium lights where they are executing us for our terrible impressions of him.
