MYRNA, Tennessee (AP) – Investigators on Sunday continued to search for the bodies of seven people believed to have been killed in the crash a day earlier from a small jet into a lake in Tennessee, including a local church founder.

Rutherford County Fire Captain John Ingle said in a statement Sunday that recovery efforts were underway at Percy Priest Lake, near Smyrna. He said efforts were also focused on examining a half-mile-wide field of debris in the lake.

County officials identified the victims in a press release Saturday night as Brandon Hannah, Gwen S. Lara, William J. Lara, David L. Martin, Jennifer J. Martin, Jessica Walters and Jonathan Walters, all of Brentwood, Tennessee. . Their names were released after their family members were informed.

Gwen Shamblin Lara founded Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood in 1999 and has written a book on faith-based weight loss. Her nearly three-year husband, known as Joe Lara, was an actor who portrayed Tarzan in the television series “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures” in the 1990s.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna C501 was heading from nearby Smyrna Rutherford County Airport to Palm Beach International Airport when it crashed Saturday morning. Authorities did not disclose the aircraft’s registration information.

Smyrna is located approximately 20 miles southeast of Nashville. Percy Priest Lake is a reservoir created by the J. Percy Priest Dam. It is a popular place for boating and fishing.

“With dive crews in the water, we strongly urge civilian boaters to stay away from public safety boats,” Ingle said.

The National Transportation Safety Board had a senior investigator at the site.
