As conspiracy theories emerging from the Arizona audit of the 2020 presidential election results grew increasingly bizarre, Seth Meyers took a trip to the circus Thursday night.
The audit in Maricopa County is being carried out by a contractor on behalf of Republicans in the state Senate, who insist that allegations of fraud in the November election must be investigated.
However, there is no indication that the November elections were not secure.
Listeners investigated baseless allegations inspired by right-wing conspiracy theories, including using UV lamps to search for watermarks of former President Donald Trump and examining ballots for bamboo fibers to determine if they were sent from Asia.
“What other genius ideas do they have, only real ballots will float, so let’s throw them in the river.” If they leak, is it fraud? Meyers said on “Late Night”. “I mean what’s the next step, they give the real ballots to a bunch of chickens and then burn the chickens?” Oh, oh is it next? Wow, I’m getting good at it.
There is even a conspiracy theory that ballots were placed on a chicken farm which was then set on fire.
“So just to recap in case you look at this and your brain is normal so you have a hard time keeping up: they think there is bamboo in the diary because it was smuggled in.” ‘Asia. They think Trump watermarked the real ballots. They believe Hugo Chavez, who died in 2013, rigged the election. And they think the ballots were eaten by chickens which were then cremated. “
