How to watch Seattle vs Los Angeles Week 1 NFL game: TV, betting info

Geno Smith is looking to prove that his stellar season as a starting quarterback that helped the Seattle Seahawks qualify for the playoffs with a 9-8 record last season was no fluke. He will have the opportunity to write another new chapter in his career on Sunday when the Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.

Smith threw for 30 touchdowns and totaled more than 4,000 passing yards after spending the previous seven seasons as a backup for multiple teams. He got the opportunity after Russell Wilson left the Seahawks in a trade to become the Denver Broncos quarterback.

Smith won Returning Player of the Year last season. The 33-year-old is confident he can take another step forward.

“I just believe in my abilities,” Smith told reporters. “I believe with the guys around me, with our coaches, I think the future is very bright for us. I’ve gained more experience and developed more. So, simply put. has improved and will continue to improve. I take this approach every day and look forward to each new situation and learning experience. I want to improve.

While the Seahawks rose last season, the Rams posted a losing record a year after winning the 2022 Super Bowl. Head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford must find options to replace the production of injured wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Look for receivers Van Jefferson and Tutu Atwell for additional targets.

Atwell is entering his third season. McVay told reporters during training camp that the 2021 second-round pick could be ready to play on offense.

“Tutu Atwell is a guy who’s done a really great job,” McVay told reporters. “He’s super smart. Obviously he’s well known for his speed, but he’s done a really great job this offseason and he showed himself today by really establishing himself, playing with aggressive hands, playing understanding the nuances of how we want to work the edges and parting where it fits into the concepts.
