MULTAN, Pakistan – Police are investigating after an overnight fire in eastern Pakistan killed seven family members, a relief official said on Sunday.
The fire broke out in a house in the Ali Pur region of Muzaffar Garh district in Punjab province, said the chief of the rescue services, Dr Hussain Mian.
He said firefighters recovered the charred bodies of a 65-year-old man, two women, 35 and 19, three boys, 3, 10 and 12, and a 2-month-old baby.
Mian said the bodies were sent for autopsy and forensic examination.
Police said the cause of the blaze was under investigation and investigators want to know why none of the family members woke up when the blaze broke out.
