Adrian Durham has taken on Harry Kane’s defense after his failed exit from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The England captain has made it clear he wants to leave north London in order to win trophies at club level, having tasted defeat in several finals with Spurs.

Kane looks in a bad mood, but Durham can fully understand why

Most recently, the club lost to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final last season, with Pep Guardiola duly asking his employers to bring Kane to the club.

However, despite the tangible interest of the Premier League champions, the 27-year-old remains a Spurs player and his form so far has failed to capture the imagination.

Sunday afternoon’s loss to bitter rivals Arsenal would surely have only reaffirmed their decision to seize new opportunities, with Spurs slipping to 11th place in the Premier League after the 3-1 loss.

Kane has yet to score in the top flight this season, not because of a lack of tries, and he has a dedicated defender in Durham who insists he approached the issue correctly and that the blame lies solely with Spurs.

UAE loss ended a miserable summer for Spurs and Kane

“Tottenham Hotspur is not working,” Durham said on Drive. “At the start of the summer, Harry Kane said he wanted this to be done before the Euro.

“He wanted to sit down and have an honest conversation with the President and Harry Kane is still there. He doesn’t want to be there!

“I heard the TV commentary team yesterday say, ‘Does he have the desire?’ No, he didn’t want to, because he didn’t want to be at Tottenham Hotspur.

“He literally doesn’t want to be there, why on earth would you want to give a manager a player who doesn’t want to be there?”

“The best idea was what many talkSPORT experts were saying all summer; sell it early and then put that money to good use in conjunction with the new manager.

“Have a really solid, solid and united recruitment policy. Use Harry Kane’s money to rebuild Spurs, but they didn’t.
