Halsey has a message for viewers who disagree with the singer’s views on reproductive rights.
Some attendees at Halsey’s Sunday night concert in Phoenix reportedly left following Halsey’s comments criticizing the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which protected abortion rights.
“The truth is, my heart breaks watching this audience because I see so many people who deserve to have amazing lives, who deserve the right to the health care they need,” said Halsey, who uses the pronouns she/they. video shared on Twitter by someone present. “I don’t want you to have to find yourself in a situation where you don’t have access to it.”
They added: “If you don’t like it I don’t know why you came to a Halsey gig because I’ve never been shy that it’s like that [I feel].”
Halsey brought up the subject again during a show in dallas tuesday.
“You’re in a building full of 15,000 people,” Halsey said. “So all these strangers that you hear about, that you think doesn’t affect you in your real life, look left, look right, look ahead, look behind you. These people who are here, who are singing the same songs as you, who are here because they like the same things as you, maybe even you, there are people here whose lives will be saved because they will have abortions. one I know for sure. Here.”
Halsey also encouraged the public to vote for candidates who support reproductive rights.
