Guingamp soon to be classified as a tourist town? – Guingamp

This Monday, May 22, the request for classification of Guingamp as a tourist town was on the agenda of the municipal council. “This ranking continues to confirm our desire to recognize Guingamp as a unique and genuine tourist site in the Costa Rican landscape”, explains the mayor of Guingamp, Philippe Le Goff.

This label, awarded by the prefect, requires several conditions: having a competent classified tourist office or a capacity to accommodate a non-permanent population. This is defined in relation to the population density, in this case for municipalities with 5,000 to 9,999 inhabitants, it must amount to 4.5%. Guingamp shows a percentage of 18.1%.

Alert on the dangers of tourist over-attractiveness

“We learned of the establishment in Guingamp of the Heaven Home concierge service. It didn’t happen by chance. It already announces that it has more than 60 accommodations in the short-term AirBnB or Abritel portfolio in the sector. These are as many less dwellings year-round for those who live and work here, ”challenges the elected official of the opposition Gaël Roblin. The latter abstained during the vote on this deliberation in order to “alert on the need for supervision of the housing market and against the dangers of tourist over-attractiveness. »
