ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Grain Theory is hosting its second Oktoberfest this Saturday, and they’re getting bigger this year, according to Grain Theory owner and brewer Jeramie Sivley.
“We’ve got live music to kick off, special street food we’re cooking, beer, there’s going to be plenty of beer to drink,” Sivley said.
Coming this weekend, residents of Abilene will have the opportunity to come together and celebrate this street party hosted by Grain Theory.
“The idea behind Grain Theory was to create a space where people come together, and these parties are the epitome of that,” Sivley explained.
Last year he says they had over 1,500 people, but this year they are expecting even more.
Some stores in the area will remain open, including Roll Shack. Roll Shack General Manager Allen Ledbetter spoke with KTAB/KRBC about why he loves attending this event.
“When we do big events like this, it really shows the amount of love and what’s given to the downtown community,” Ledbetter said.
Roll Shack will have specials, including $5 kids ice cream. They will also release their cotton candy machine. Ledbetter said he was hoping for a turnout like last year.
“We had lines outside the door. When we also made the cotton candy machines, we had lines up to ally,” Ledbetter said.
Roll Shack and Grain Theory encouraged everyone to get out. Oktoberfest will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.
Grain Theory is selling personalized ceramic mugs for pre-purchase for $28. Buyers will get a free pour during this event, and each subsequent pour will be $2 with the mug.
