Former Chelsea star Scott Minto insists Graham Potter cannot continue to make mistakes with his team’s caps and formations.
It was a difficult Saturday afternoon for the Blues, as Potter was given a bad reception by Seagulls fans as he returned to his old club.
Things went from bad to worse for the Chelsea manager, as the home side led 3-0 before half-time.
Brighton won the game 4-1 and, for Minto, Potter had to bear the blame.
He told the Sunday session: “When I got back in the car and looked [at the score] I thought ‘oh my God, what happened there?’
“I looked at the team selection straight away and I just thought ‘do you know what he picks the wrong formation, he picks the wrong players’.”
Chelsea fans were left baffled by Potter’s tactics as he turned his side again.
Ben Chilwell was on the bench with Raheem Sterling at left-back, while Christian Pulisic played the same role on the opposite flank, offering no protection for the Blues centre-backs.

Saturday’s game also marked the second time in a row that Cucurella has been taken off as the Blues’ new manager attempted to return in a game.
Cucurella and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have come under fire from former Blues Tony Cascarino for their roles in Sunday’s Weekend Breakfast defeat.
But Minto doesn’t think the Spaniard was treated fairly and shouldn’t bear all the blame, given the stances he took on Potter.
He continued: “I mean, let’s start by saying that I’m a big fan of Graham Potter and even though I didn’t want to [Thomas] Tuchel is sacked, I’m really happy that he has the opportunity to come in.
“But there’s only so many times he can start with bad formations and then change them, so fair game for him to see things.
“Although he clearly didn’t yesterday. He can’t keep taking off [Marc] Cucurella, I’m sorry for him too. He’s not a left centre-back and he plays in all three there.
But ultimately, Minto says Cucurella wasn’t the only one cast in a different role and he says Potter picked the wrong game to experiment with.
He added: “You just knew Brighton were going to be up for this game, they’re almost a leftover lover and they were going to try something different.
“You don’t play two wingers as full-backs!”
