The former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security made scathing remarks against participants in the Justice for J6 rally and the Republican Party at large.

In an interview with MSNBC, Miles Taylor said he found the gathering “personally disturbing” having lived in Washington DC for 20 years.

“I was here in the years after September 11 and didn’t feel like this,” he said. “DC was built 200 years ago to be this open and expansive and open city like our democracy, but instead of a shining city on a hill, it now looks like an American fortress.”

He said the protest supported those who committed crimes when they stormed the Capitol on January 6. “Be clear, these are not political prisoners,” he said. “They are criminals.”

Mr. Taylor went on to condemn the GOP as it currently stands, saying it currently looks like “a tinder for terrorists”.

“The Republican Party – my party – has continued in many instances to promote the big lie, but even worse, has offered and expressed support for these criminals,” he said. “So frankly I think my party has a big decision to make, and that’s our platform will it continue to be Lincoln’s party and his founding ideals or will she be some kind of a bitch? -different shape? “

“Today I think we are more like a terrorist Tinder where radicals across the country can sweep to the right and match an extremist politician who amplifies their views then when they get in trouble and commit crimes, try to get them out of jail, “Mr. Taylor added.” So if you ask me now, we’re a little less like Lincoln’s party and more like a Tinder for terrorists. “

The Justice for J6 rally officially started in Union Square around noon today, and organizers were expecting around 700. However, reporters from the Independent these numbers appeared to be around the 200 mark.
