Golf legend John Daly sends Arkansas coaching advice amid March Madness race
Arkansas men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman said Saturday night he was getting coaching advice from legendary golfer John Daly as the team eliminated Kansas in the Round of 16.
Musselman said Daly prepared throwing drills for players to do to work on their free throws. The Razorbacks were 22 of 29 against Charity Strip Illinois and were 21 of 26 from the line in the 72-71 win over the Jayhawks.

“He tried to call me, he got a few texts already,” Musselman said. “Before I hit the plane, I’ll try to call John. You know, he’s texted me, even drills. Like he wants our guys to pull out a putter and hit a ball into a cup. We haven’t tried it yet, luckily we made some foul shots, but I know Arkansas State is on fire right now and I know John Daly is pretty bloated too.
After the victory, the 58-year-old coach jumped onto the press table, ripped off his red polo shirt and waved it above his head.

The crowd in Des Moines, Iowa, went wild.
“This is such an incredible win for our program,” Musselman said. “I keep telling people that we are improving. Few teams can improve at this time of year. I have never been so proud of a team like tonight.”
Kansas is the second No. 1 seed to ever be eliminated in this tournament.
