Gabon 1-1 Ghana: The fight breaks out after a heated draw in the African Cup of Nations

After losing their opener to Morocco, a 1-1 draw with Gabon leaves one of the powerhouses – albeit a side famous for going down in the last hurdle in a footballing sense – without a win.

Captain Andre Ayew fired a superb left-footed shot for an 18th-minute lead but the result leaves them with one point from two Group C games and in danger of CAN elimination if they don’t win their last match against Comoros next Tuesday.

A grueling encounter ended in scuffles and a red card for Ghanaian Benjamin Tetteh for his role in the post-match punch.

Gabon were not allowed to field captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who, although released from COVID-19 isolation, was not cleared to play by the Confederation of African Football.
