Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his US engagements on Thursday by meeting with key US CEOs from five different key industries and highlighting economic opportunities in India.

During his one-on-one meeting with Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano E Amon, they discussed investment opportunities in India’s telecommunications and electronics sector, including the recent Production incentive program for the design and manufacture of electronic systems (ESDM).

Government sources said that Amon expressed enthusiasm for working with India on digital transformation programs, including in 5G, PM WANI and others. He also expressed interest in partnering with the country to work in the semiconductor field.

He also discussed the new liberalized drone policy and said Qualcomm may participate in new opportunities in the emerging market, sources added. Prime Minister Modi assured him that India would work proactively on the proposals made by Qualcomm.
