French Football Federation launches official complaint against Emi Martinez over ‘abnormal’ behavior after World Cup win

As the Albiceleste revel in a famous World Cup final victory, the Aston Villa man has attracted a huge amount of negative attention.

After calling for a fake moment of silence for Kylian Mbappe during wild locker room celebrations, Martinez was seen holding a doll with the French striker’s face on it during the team’s victory parade through Buenos Aires .

The 30-year-old has been called ‘the most hated man in France’ by former Les Bleus defender Adil Rami, after he also made a bizarre obscene gesture with the trophy in response to French fans after winning the Golden Glove in Qatar.

Now, French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet has revealed he has written to the Argentine FA to complain about Martinez’s behaviour.

“I wrote to my counterpart in the Argentine Federation, I find these deviations abnormal, in the context of a sports competition, and I find it difficult to understand,” he told Ouest-France.

“This is going too far. Mbappe’s behavior has been exemplary.

Martinez will report to the club next week and will miss Villa’s Boxing Day clash with Liverpool.

“We are so proud of him,” manager Unai Emery said.

“He won the World Cup with his national team and that’s amazing for the Aston Villa fans. He’s coming back this week but I want him to rest now because after the emotion and the hard work he has to have a few days off.
