After the episode of frost which severely hit several regions and crops in France, in recent days, the Minister of Agriculture explained, this Thursday evening on France Info, that the mobilization of the government was “total so that the measures of support are put in place as quickly as possible. In particular, we are going to launch the implementation of the agricultural calamity regime ”.
“We will also study the usual tax measures that we can make available to these farmers who are facing these difficulties”, added Julien Denormandie, while specifying that it is still too early to determine the exact cost of the damage, in particular because other episodes of freezing are to be feared in the coming days.
One thing is already certain at this stage, “the losses are important”, warned the minister. He also promised the full mobilization of insurers and bankers to support the affected operators.
“A completely exceptional situation”
“Today we are faced with a situation which is quite exceptional, which is particularly difficult, which affects a large number of crops, viticulture of course, arboriculture, but also arable crops such as beetroot, rapeseed ”, detailed Mr. Denormandie, evoking a“ rather unprecedented violence ”.
“We are in the process of carrying out the quantitative assessment, what we see is that a lot of regions are impacted today, whether in the north of Ile-de-France to the South-East and part of the center of the country, ”he said.
