Frank Lampard claims he learned little from Chelsea’s interim spell due to club crisis

Lampard has admitted he hasn’t been able to learn much as a manager from his interim spell in charge of Chelsea.
The club legend has won just one of his ten games since being parachuted into the club after Graham Potter’s sacking and Bruno Saltor’s one-game goalkeeping spell, making him the fourth man to lead the team this season.
Chelsea were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Manchester United on Thursday despite a promising first-half spell which saw Lampard’s young strikers miss several chances.
Sunday’s final match against Newcastle will see the 44-year-old again say goodbye to Stamford Bridge before Mauricio Pochettino takes over, and he revealed he learned little about management given the circumstances he has encountered.
“If you ask me what I’ve learned in that short time, not so much in terms of training,” Lampard told Sky Sports when asked about his own future.
“If you don’t have that base then back-five, back-four… two in midfield, three in midfield… those things aren’t that important because if you can’t build and having that stamina in training so if that’s not there from a training standpoint there are some tough things you want to do [instead].
“I’ve been in this situation as a player, with an interim and change of manager. A lot of the positives you gain come from what the team is fighting for, what can you motivate them for.
“We didn’t find that as a collective, the results say so.
“This job is going to challenge you at different times, I’m definitely not the victim – I love working for this club. That hasn’t changed since I’ve been here.
“Did I learn a lot about football? As I said, I don’t think so at this time. I’ve done it here before and I’ve done it at Everton. During that period it was more about what I walked into and what I saw, it was very different for me.
