Five people were killed in the crash of a tourist plane this Saturday in Isère, near Grenoble. Around 5 p.m., witnesses who had seen an aircraft disappear behind trees, just before a huge plume of smoke rose, warned the firefighters.
The tragedy took place shortly after 4:30 p.m., a few minutes after the aircraft took off. “A family who was doing a first flight” was on board, according to firefighters. The plane crashed about fifteen kilometers from Versoud aerodrome, northeast of Grenoble, from where it had taken off.
The investigation was entrusted to the air transport brigade (BGTA)
“An important SDIS 38 device, involving the Dragon 38 helicopter, supported by the Haute-Montagne Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) and the Meylan Gendarmerie Company, was deployed very quickly on the spot, to put out the fire and come to the aid of the passengers“, indicated for its part the prefecture of Isère in a press release.
Criminal identification technicians were dispatched to the scene. The BGTA (a gendarmerie brigade dedicated to airport areas) of Saint-Etienne-de-Saint-Geoirs mobilized a drone operator. The investigation was entrusted to them to determine the causes of the tragedy.
