Fans are loving the rediscovered footage of Gareth Bale giving a team chat to Tottenham’s new signing Brennan Johnson while playing for Wales.
Spurs have a new striker signing an exciting young talent, Johnson, in a £45m deal from Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old played a major role in both teams to bring Forest to the Premier League and then keep them top tier last season.
And while Chelsea and Brentford were interested in the Wales international, Tottenham won the race.
Spurs’ last striker to play for Wales also proved to be quite good, with Bale still fondly remembered.
Time will tell if Johnson can have a similar impact to Bale, but the pair played together for Wales and fans can’t get enough of a swap between the pair at the World Cup in Qatar.
During a group stage match against the United States and with 90 minutes remaining, footage shows Bale telling Johnson to keep accumulating yards until the final whistle.
Bale is seen saying, “Just keep running. I know it’s hard but you just have to do it.”
And fans loved seeing their legend speak at the World Cup.
One said: “Good God, I love Gareth Bale. »
Another wrote: “Learned from the best”.
And a third posted: “Imagine getting a pep talk from Bale man, I wouldn’t stop running. Legend.”
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was desperate to bolster his attack following Harry Kane’s departure, but they haven’t missed the new Bayern star’s shooting boots so far.
Spurs sit second in the Premier League after four games and no club have scored more than them this season.
Richarlison may have struggled so far, but Johnson’s arrival will already give an impressive attack more fluidity.
The Dragons are in action on Thursday night when they take on South Korea in a friendly match.
