Eviosys invests €12 million in its metal box – Economy

In Concarneau, is it a discreet metal packaging company? who decided to open up to the outside world. Discreet certainly, but which constitutes one of the heavyweights of the local economy with 200 employees. Eviosys Concarneau (formerly Crown, acquired in 2021 by the investment fund KPS Capital Partners) is one of the seven French production sites of the American group, based in 17 countries. Present in the Blue City since 1924, the company, located on the sites of La Villeneuve and Kersalé, supplies cans of all sizes and shapes, with easy-open bottoms, varnished and printed on site.

Driven by the good canned sales figures of recent years, the Concarneau branch has decided to launch an “unprecedented modernization” plan to support its growth and diversify its production, informs Maël Chevalier, director of Eviosys Concarneau. Between 2020 and 2021, nearly €12 million was spent on equipment. In the first year, two new easy-to-open fund production lines were set up. In 2021, the main investment consisted of the installation of a new seven-color metal printing line (€7 million) at the Kersalé site.

500 million metal containers produced

“Today, we are proud to be able to say that we have the most modern means of printing on metal in France”, boasts Maël Chevalier, originally from Brest. Robotization, automatic camera control and modernization of workspaces for employees have completed this vast renovation project.

In Concarneau, nearly 500 million metal containers are now marketed each year. Nearly 90% of this production is intended for the local market, mainly for two sectors of activity, vegetables and fish. The ten largest customers are located within a radius of 200 km around the plant: Bonduelle, Saupiquet, Eureden, etc.

30 vacancies

These various investments were accompanied by a reinforcement of the teams. Today, “30 positions are to be filled in Concarneau and we plan to recruit more in the coming months”, informs the manager. Line operator, setter mechanic, printer, varnisher… “All process-related trades are offered,” adds Maël Chevalier.

Technical skills that are increasingly in demand on the local site. Especially since the group wishes to continue its investments in Concarneau, with a development strategy centered around the reduction of its carbon footprint. To this end, the two incinerators will soon be replaced? by less energy-consuming machines. The printing activity should be structured even more. With one objective in sight: “to build the most modern printing center in France”, Eviosys aims.
