Jason Cundy has suggested Frank Lampard’s appointment indicates Everton have “half their eyes on relegation” from the Premier League this season.
The Toffees’ turbulent campaign reached a new low as they succumbed to a 5-0 bombardment at a crawling Tottenham.

As they have been for much of the season, Everton were miles away
It was a poor performance from Lampard’s men, who are just a point above the bottom three after their beating in a game that saw them fail to muster a single shot on target.
Reacting to their display, Cundy told The Sports Bar: “Everton fans watching this, they always have to be behind the couch. They’ll be hiding, worrying about what happens next… 5-0 does not flatter Spurs.
“I don’t think they will want Lampard out… they got rid of Rafael Benitez, they called Frank, who is a newcomer in management.
“Nothing else should matter to Everton, just stay in the Premier League, even if it’s by one goal.
“I think what they’re doing with Frank, I think there’s half an eye to relegation.
“To give him that duration…Frank was successful in the championship [with Derby] We have to think about it at this stage of the season.

It is the heaviest defeat of Lampard’s managerial career
“It’s a calculated risk… Eddie Howe was brought to Newcastle because he knows the Championship. Themselves had half an eye on it.
In a season that holds so much promise, Everton are in serious danger of falling out of the top flight for the first time in their history.
But why has it been such a bad season? Former Toffees striker Louis Saha does not have a club.
“I have absolutely no idea,” Saha told talkSPORT.com with FreeBets.com.

Everton’s decline this season is a mystery to Saha
“I just don’t understand this club because they have so much potential, a good team.
“I don’t understand because they have everything to be a great team. We’ve seen Leicester win the league, so why not Everton?
When asked if Everton fans should be worried about relegation, Saha added: “They can, yes.
“Any team in the bottom seven can be in trouble. Yes, they have a few games going on in the bottom teams but I think Newcastle are going to be consistent.
“They have to be careful.”
