Everton fans made their feelings known on talkSPORT following the 4-1 loss to rivals Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The Toffees’ winless streak spanned eight games in the worst possible way as manager Rafael Benitez saw his current squad beaten by former employers.
Liverpool fans chanted ‘Rafa behind the wheel’ as the Evertonians staged a mass exodus before the full-time whistle, which was greeted with deafening taunts from those who stayed.
And an Everton fan couldn’t even bear to see the first half. In fact, he hasn’t even reached 20 minutes, despite £ 1,000 spent traveling from Belfast with his children.
Meet Connor, perhaps the most angry Toffee of all.
“I don’t blame Benitez at all,” he told Sports Bar. “I watched the game tonight and I’m coaching 12-year-olds. If our goalkeeper is just pulling the ball back onto the pitch, I’m going crazy with him.
“Am I watching people with £ 100,000 a week get the ball rolling on the pitch?” It is shameful !
“I left the match after 18 minutes. We were down 2-0 and I saw it coming. I left my 12 and 17 in the stands.
“It cost me £ 1,000 to watch a game and we had to watch that?” I can train 12 year olds to play better football than that.
And he wasn’t the only one. Josh, another Everton fan, has decided this is officially the most humiliating result of all his days supporting the club.
He said: “I can safely say that this is the most embarrassed that I have been as an Everton fan in my life. Already.
“It’s a new low point and I’ve seen some low points. The board is rotten from the core to the outside.
“He needs dramatic changes. I have friends who are Burnley fans. I have friends who are Newcastle fans. They look at us thinking they can overtake us.
“We’re in relegation form right now. Where do we go from here? “
Benitez assumed most of the criticism, with many fans unwilling to accept the ex-Liverpool manager, especially given Everton’s desperate form on the pitch.
However, Jonathan Woodgate came to the Spaniard’s defense, insisting he was helpless with injuries from key players and a lack of support in the transfer window.
Woodgate told talkSPORT: “I would stay with Benitez. How much money did he have? £ 1.75million, something ridiculous like that?
“[Doninic] Calvert-Lewin has been injured all season, what do you want him to do? He’s not a magician.
