England vs Argentina preview

This World Cup doesn’t come at an ideal time for an England side that have been struggling lately, with two defeats against Ireland and Fiji before that.

England have also lost six of their nine matches played this calendar year, with their only wins coming against Italy and Wales.

Ireland dominated in their last encounter with England winning 29-10 and Fiji also getting past the English defense on several occasions winning 30-22.

Argentina have played just five games so far: a loss to New Zealand in July, before a thrilling 34-31 win over Australia.

They narrowly lost 22-21 to South Africa the next time and fell to the same team again a week later before beating Spain 62-3 in their final warm-up match.

These two teams met in November at Twickenham Stadium and Argentina narrowly won the Autumn International clash 30-29.

England vs Argentina Betting Tips

Argentina wins by 1 to 7 points – 3/1

Argentina could replicate their victory at Twickenham Stadium and it will be another close clash – albeit probably high given the form both teams had before the World Cup.

Head-to-head results suggest England can win, but circumstances have changed since their last victory against Argentina.

England beat Argentina in October 2019 at the World Cup hosted by Japan, but the South American side are now much more ruthless, which again does not come at the right time to face the Red Roses.
