England hero Jordan Pickford slammed for being ‘too slow’ towards France goal most Prem keepers would save, says Foster

FORMER England goalkeeper Ben Foster says current Three Lions number 1 Jordan Pickford should have saved France’s World Cup quarter-final opener on Saturday.
Everton star Pickford, 28, was dejected after Aurelien Tchouameni’s feeble 25-yard effort beat his stretched dive to deliver a 2-1 victory for the defending champions.

Foster, 39, played for clubs including Stoke, Manchester United, West Brom and Watford before retiring in September.
He thinks most Prem keepers would have saved Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni’s drive.
Pickford, 28, was not helped by England midfielder Jude Bellingham’s shot through the legs.
But speaking on his TikTok account benfcyclinggk, Foster said: “He was about 25 or 26 yards, Bellingham is about 25 yards from goal, and he went through his legs.
“That didn’t deter Jordan Pickford at all, did it?
“You almost have to dive in front of the ball, you know what I mean?
“I think most Premier League keepers make that save, really.
“I think most Premier League goalkeepers make that save, period.”

Foster, who won his eight caps between 2007 and 2014, also dismissed the idea that Tchouameni’s strike was simply too good to stop.
He added: “I don’t think it was – I don’t think it was scratched and I don’t think it was right in the corner.
“I think if you show Jordan Pickford looking at the goal, I think he’ll put his hands up and say, I think I can do better for that.”
