Emma Raducanu is reportedly set to appoint a new coach, the frontrunner having led two stars to Grand Slam success.

Raducanu won the US Open last month and days later announced her separation from coach Andrew Richardson.

Raducanu is expected to appoint a new coach soon

The 18-year-old didn’t budge to nominate someone immediately, heading to Indian Wells with no permanent person in place.

This will be Raducanu’s third coach since she rose to prominence this summer, with Richardson replacing Nigel Sears after Wimbledon.

The Telegraph reports that Carlos Rodriguez is the favorite to be named coach.

Rodriguez helped Justine Henin win seven Grand Slam titles during her illustrious career.

He then guided Li Na, whom Raducanu counts as one of his idols, to the Australian Open in 2014.

The report also adds that his agents, IMG, have been working on options since August and that they, along with Raducanu’s family, have identified Rodriguez as the ideal candidate.

LTA coach Jeremy Bates assisted the Bromley teenager in Indian Wells, where she lost in the second round.

“Yeah, I mean Jeremy is a part of women’s tennis in the LTA, so while he’s here he’s helping me,” Raducanu told reporters this week.

“But in the future, I’ll just wait and try to find the right person. I’m not going to rush into anything and yes I want to make sure I make the right decision.

Former British number one Tim Henman also urged Raducanu to be patient before naming a new name.

Henman told talkSPORT.com: “I’m sure his coaching situation will be sorted out at the end of the year. She has a great schedule now with three or four tournaments before the end of the year.

“November and December will be a time for her to reflect and plan for the future.

“In terms of who this coach might be, I have no idea. She has to sit down and see who is available.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of interest in the job. Hopefully she can then put someone in place to build on the huge success of the latter part of this year.
