Arsenal have rejected a second offer from Aston Villa for Emile Smith Rowe, estimated at around £ 30million.
Villa made a first offer last week worth around £ 25million and came back with an improved offer, but Arsenal are not offering entertaining offers for their popular youth product.
The club are in talks to extend Smith Rowe’s current contract, which expires in June 2023, and Arsenal’s hierarchy is hoping he will sign a new contract.
Villa has already signed Emiliano Buendia from Norwich on a £ 35million deal and wants to further strengthen Dean Smith’s options as an attacking midfielder, regardless of Jack’s future. Grealish.
The Midlands club began talks with Grealish on a new improved contract late last week and have no plans to sell him despite Manchester City’s intention to make a formal offer for the England international after Euro 2020.
Smith Rowe impressed in the second half of last season, scoring seven times and providing seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions, helping the Gunners to finish eighth in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old England international has enjoyed loan spells at Huddersfield and RB Leipzig but has shone since his breakthrough in Arsenal’s first team under Mikel Arteta last year.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are in advanced talks with Brighton over the potential signing of defender Ben White in a deal that could be worth more than £ 50million.
Sky Sports News reported that Arsenal rejected a £ 40million offer earlier in June, but negotiations have now moved forward on the structure of the payments, while personal terms are unlikely to be an issue.
The club remain in talks with Roma over the sale of Granit Xhaka and despite a small valuation gap, all parties are confident that a resolution will be found after Xhaka’s participation in Euro 2020 with Switzerland.
Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba could also be set to leave the club on loan or permanently, while Arsenal want to strengthen their goalkeeper options and look to Mat Ryan of Brighton and Aaron Ramsdale of Sheffield United.
