CONCORD – Emerson Hospital closed its doors to new patients for a short time Thursday evening after a power outage.
The Concord Fire Department and Police Department responded and the Concord Municipal Lighting Plant was able to restore power quickly.

Just before 5:30 p.m., police sent a tweet asking drivers to avoid the area. Police reported power was restored at approximately 6:15 p.m.

It is not known what caused the outage, but Emerson Hospital said all patients were safe and the hospital was functioning normally.

“Emerson Hospital is operating normally after a brief power outage this evening. His emergency department remains open. All patients are safe and the generator equipment provided the energy needed during the brief outage, ”the hospital said in a prepared statement.
