“It’s hardly related to Lavrov’s visit, we have our own relations with Egypt, and we have our own contracts with Egypt for the relevant supplies that Russia fulfills. And as for Egypt’s relations with other countries, it is the business of other countries concerned,” Peskov told reporters. Earlier, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Egypt terminated contracts to purchase 240,000 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine, purchased in December 2021. According to the newspaper, the Egyptian General Authority for Commodity Supply (GASC) has released the trading companies supplying the four unloaded cargoes, Nibulon and Inerco, from their contractual obligations. last week, Russia and Ukraine signed a Turkey-UN brokered deal to restart Black Sea grain and fertilizer exports that had been suspended as part of the special military operation of the Russia in Ukraine. Reuters added that it was unclear whether the GASC contracts had been canceled before the grain deal was completed.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Egypt’s refusal to buy grain from Ukraine is unrelated to the Russian Foreign Minister’s recent trip to Cairo, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

“It’s hardly related to Lavrov’s visit, we have our own relations with Egypt, and we have our own contracts with Egypt for the relevant supplies that Russia fulfills. And as for Egypt’s relations with other countries, it’s the business of other countries concerned,” Peskov told reporters.

Earlier, Reuters reported citing sources that Egypt had terminated contracts to purchase 240,000 tons of wheat from Ukraine, purchased in December 2021. According to the newspaper, the Egyptian General Authority for the Supply of Commodities de base (GASC) released the commercial companies supplying the four unloaded cargoes, Nibulon and Inerco, from their contractual obligations.

Last week, Russia and Ukraine signed a Turkish-UN-brokered deal to restart Black Sea grain and fertilizer exports that had been suspended under the special military operation of Russia in Ukraine. Reuters added that it was unclear whether the GASC contracts had been canceled before the grain deal was completed.
