CAIRO (Sputnik) – Egypt is ready to open an international grain trading and storage center to ensure food security, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Saturday.

“My country, due to its geographical position, declares its readiness to cooperate with the international community to establish an international grain storage, supply and trade center in Egypt in order to contribute to food security,” Shoukry said. at the 77th General Meeting of the United Nations. Shoukry added that one in five people in Africa is at risk of hunger, while countries on the continent spend around $43 billion on food imports alone.
