The UFC returns to London tonight as Leon Edwards takes on Kamaru Usman once again inside the octagon. The pair will complete a stunning trilogy at the O2 Arena, with the welterweight title on the line.
Edwards stunned Usman with a brilliant kick in August to avenge his loss to The Nigerian Nightmare in 2015. Whether the lighting can strike twice or not remains to be seen. Usman was on course to be considered one of the greatest of all time before this loss and is not one to give up chances. Still, the home support for Edwards could be huge.

Leon Edwards shocks the world with stunning Kamaru Usman knockout at UFC 278
Leon Edwards became just Britain’s second UFC champion after claiming the welterweight title with a last-minute shock kick to the head to beat Kamaru Usman in Salt Lake City.
The 30-year-old, from Birmingham, looked headed for defeat at Vivint Arena after being beaten by the defending champion to unleash a left kick to the side of Usman’s head, knocking his opponent out, with just one minute. fight on the left.
Edwards, who lost to Usman in 2015, is just the second Briton to become a UFC champion, following Michael Bisping in 2016.
He said in his Octagon post-fight interview, “I can’t put it into words. It’s been four long years. They all doubted me, they all said I couldn’t do it. Look at me now!”

It’s going to be tough for Edwards to replicate the stunning kick that stunned Usman months ago. This, you sense, was a perfect storm and the alchemy needed to replicate it is complex.
