East Texas 11-Year-Old Girl Killed in “Hunting Accident” Saturday Night |  KTAB

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a minor that allegedly occurred in a hunting accident in Hallsville on Saturday.

According to the department, Dispatch received several calls shortly after 5 p.m. regarding a hunting accident near Young and Hickey Road, involving an 11-year-old girl and her father.

Callers said the father accidentally shot the daughter with a high powered rifle.

After MPs and EMS arrived at the scene, the girl, now identified as Daisy Grace Lynn George, was located and taken to a hospital in Longview. Authorities had requested a rescue flight, but all emergency helicopters were stranded in the area due to inclement weather.

George was pronounced dead in hospital. She was a sixth grade student at Hallsville ISD.

“Every time a young person loses their life, it is tragic for everyone involved. Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends during this difficult time. “

Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens were also called in to help investigate this incident.

Sheriff Fletcher works with the ISD Hallsville Superintendent to coordinate bereavement counselors for all faculty and students.
