Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert detail their ‘scary’ car crash

Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert feel extremely grateful this holiday season.

Earlier this month, the Dancing with the stars judge and his fiancee were traveling in the mountains of california when they had a scare on the roads.

“Derek and I had a pretty scary car accident on Dec. 12,” Hayley wrote on Instagram on Dec. 23. “Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree and, worst of all, the fear of slipping off the mountain. Given the circumstances, we have so much to be grateful for.

For Hayley, she is happy that there were no other people involved in the accident. In addition, the paramedics were quick to respond and help the couple.

“We’re both fine,” she said. “I only came out a little banged up, with a swollen face and four stitches above my eyebrow. Now, more than ever, we realize how fragile life is and how important it is to love those around us. We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.”
