Verstappen-Hamilton incident: decision imminent for Mercedes complaint
The commissioners of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) are due to announce this Friday whether Mercedes’ request for an overhaul is accepted for the incident that occurred last Sunday in Brazil between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
As a reminder, Verstappen had taken Hamilton off the track with a contentious defensive maneuver. No sanction was pronounced at the time, but Mercedes subsequently requested that an investigation be reopened.
If this request is accepted, Verstappen is exposed to a time penalty and, therefore, given the result of the Brazilian GP, a loss of points in the world championship.
