David Warner fears his groin injury will trouble him for several months

Australian opener David Warner admitted that the groin injury that kept him from making half of the test series against India in the New Year could still cause him pain for nine months.

The 34-year-old, injured in a one-day game against India in November, missed the first two tests against the Tourists before playing partially in form for the rest of the series as Australia s ‘collapsed for a 2-1 loss. .

“I almost came back to sprinting 100% in a straight line,” he said.

Warner aims to keep the ashes later in the year

Warner, who is expected to captain the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League in April, was selected for Australia’s test tour to South Africa but this was later put on hold due to health concerns.

He said he spoke to other athletes who had suffered similar injuries.

“They just said it’s a downside,” Warner added.

“You just have to teach your brain not to worry about the pain and that it won’t happen again.

“It’s just getting that confidence back to dodge and run as hard as I can and dive again. Once I figure that out, I’ll be right to go. It’s just not 100% yet. . “
